Firstly, we evaluate the skills underlying learning, whether they be skills in memorization, comprehension, attention, logical reasoning or problem solving. We also assess the way in which the child manages his or her activities (metacognitive skills: planning, control, strategies) and observe emotional responses that may affect learning (lack of self-confidence, loss of motivation, fear of failure, negative representation of school tasks).
Cognitive, metacognitive and conative pedagogical objectives are then set up to enable the pupil to acquire thinking and behavioural tools that he or she can reuse in different learning situations, both in and out of school.
The aim is for the pupil to become an actor in his or her own learning and to develop his or her own strategies for learning.
For parents, it is also an opportunity to obtain advice, to better understand the child’s difficulties in order to be able to respond to his or her possible needs.
